Why the heck was Fla. Gov. Ron DeSantis talking about his video game playing days recently?
Apparently, Florida’s chief executive has spent some time with Electronic Arts’ “NCAA Football” video game.
During a press conference in which he advocated for college athletes’ ability to get paid for companies that use their likeness, DeSantis revealed that he remembers fondly playing the college football video game, according to the Orlando Weekly. The game had been built by EA in Maitland.
The game was discontinued, however, after former college football players threatened to sue the company for using their likenesses.
On Tuesday, the NCAA said it might be willing to support payment of athletes, though that effort remains in its early stages.
