Ongaku returns with charity concert featuring Mega ran

The ninth virtual concert featuring video game-inspired artists will raise money for charity.

The concert put together by Kent Ward, who has organized the Ongaku Overdrive virtual concerts from Orlando since June, will raise money for the Asian Pacific Fund.

The show will feature Lauren the Flute of The Returners (who we featured previously), AnimeVivi, Super Smack, The Megas, and an OVG favorite Mega Ran.

The concert starts at 7 p.m. tonight on Ongaku’s Twitch channel.

Ward had been instrumental in hosting and coordinating video game-music inspired concerts before the coronavirus pandemic.

Mega Ran and the Returners performed in Orlando in October 2019 for Ongaku Overdrive’s tribute to Final Fantasy music.

One of Mega Ran’s most notable albums is Black Materia, a collection of rap songs that follow along the story of Final Fantasy VII.

“The past 15 months have been incredibly hard for the Asian-American community,” Ward said in a press release. “With this charity concert, we are going to show that our community, the video game music community, is more than willing to step up and help out.”
