The Florida-based team of the brand-new Activision-Blizzard Call of Duty League will be called the Mutineers, the outfit announced on Monday.
The team will host official events for the league starting in January at a yet-to-be-announced home facility.
The Mutineers, which announced Saturday on Twitter that it would announce its rosters soon, are a product of the Misfits Gaming Group, an Overwatch League team based in Orlando and Boca Raton.
Although the site for its home games have not been determined, the group’s Overwatch League team known as the Florida Misfits will host one of its home games at Full Sail University in Winter Park on May 16 and 17.
Franchises in the 12-team international Call of Duty League are based in Florida, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, London, two in Los Angeles, Minnesota, New York, Paris, Seattle and Toronto.
“Taking inspiration from the pirates who ravaged ships off the coast of Florida in the 17th and 18th centuries, the Mutineers will take no prisoners and live by their own rules in pursuit of victory,” team leaders said in a press release.
